DRISCOLL, Ruth M. "Ruthie" (Essenheimer), of Braintree and Center Conway, N.H., formerly of South Boston, died peacefully at Grove Manor Estates in Braintree, on April 19, 2021, at the age of 92. Loving wife of the late Thomas F. Driscoll Sr. Devoted mother of Thomas F. Driscoll Jr. and his wife Julie of Quincy, Linda T. Castriano and her husband John of Plymouth, Steven Driscoll and his wife Nancy of Braintree. Predeceased by her children Marie C. Hogan, Edward J. Driscoll, John (Jay) Driscoll, and Brian Driscoll. Survived by son-in-law Timothy Hogan of Braintree. Proud Nana of 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Daughter of the late Charles A. Essenheimer and Winifred B. Shannon. Cherished sister of Helen D. Acone of Center Conway, N.H. and the late Monica T. Lord, Charles A. Essenheimer, Winifred A. Fitzgerald, Florence Stentiford, Ralph D. Essenheimer, and Lois M. Fantasia. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a graduate of South Boston High School and was a former employee of the Marian Manor Nursing Home in South Boston. She was a past member of the Castle Island Association and the South Boston Irish American Society. Ruth loved spending time at her summer home on Conway Lake, with immediate and extended family, and friends. Many will remember good times had there. Ruth will be greatly missed, however knowing that "Puffy" and "Ruthie" are reunited is heartening.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Clare Church, 1244 Liberty Street, Braintree at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 1, 2021. Due to the ongoing health crisis, face masks and proper social distancing will be required. Burial will be private for children and grandchildren.
Ruth was very generous, always giving to those in need, or a worthy cause. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451, or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
