Mrs. DeSetta was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 18, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Norman and Gertrude Pottle. Her three siblings, Gertrude, Ralph, and Eleanor, preceded her in death.
Ruth married Henry DeSetta in 1950, and they enjoyed almost 63 years together until Mr. DeSetta passed away in late 2013. She and her husband lived in Woodmere, New York, for 40 years where they owned the DeSetta Nursery, a landscaping and gardening center that is still in operation. She was an active member of the Woodmere United Methodist Church, serving in the Alter Guild and organizing numerous fundraising events. Her faith was an essential part of her life and her love of Jesus only ever deepened.
