On the early morning of Thursday, October 27, 2022, Russell Colby Imken tragically lost his life in an apartment fire. A family visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. till 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at McCoy Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 11:30 A.M. at Palava Cemetery with Rev. Carter Edmondson officiating. Rusty attended Texas schools in Midland and was a Midland High School graduate. He attended Panola College in Carthage, Texas and attained his CDL license. He never feared long days of hard work as a CDL driver. Unexplained, in April of 2014, an anoxic brain injury took that love away. He battled many years to relearn and regain his speech, physical and mental independence at Baylor Rehab in Dallas and Neurostorative in Tyler. He won! In December 2014 he became a"Daddy" to a beautiful baby girl, a cherished memory that he was proud of daily. His personality allowed him to make friends easily. He had future plans of "I want to drive again" Remembering you as a caring daddy, son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, and friend. "Until we see you again, we will all be loving and missing you". He is survived by his daughter Allison Grace Imken and her mother Whitney Thompson Harrison of De Berry, TX.; parents Russell and Nancy Imken of Gary, TX.; sister Emily Brown and husband Chris of Oil City, LA.; nephew Hudson Brown of Oil City, LA.; grandfather Glenn Imken of Sweetwater, TX.; uncle Rick Windham of Minneapolis, MN.; aunt Kathy Posey and husband Bill of Nokesville, VA. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Troy and Naomi Bowen, paternal grandmother Deloris Imken and maternal aunt Sue Windham. Pallbearers will be Jason Reeves, Bill Morris, Mark Wayne Hagood, Tommy Rosson, Don "Junior" Vierus, Rick Windham, Rusty Gilbert, Joel Hagood and Chris Brown.
