Russell Charles Dimmick went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 1st, 2022, surrounded by loved ones in his home. Russell was born October 11, 1940 to Ethel and Harley Dimmick. He spent his childhood in Stafford, CT along with his sister Betty Lou(Kessler). Russell is survived by his wife Sharon, his children Darlene(Donald) Jones, Russell(Kami) Dimmick Jr., and Robert(Linda) Dimmick. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Brooke, Chase, Brandon, Cheyanne, Kathryn, Remington, Kaitlin, Robert, Bailey, William, his 13 great grandchildren and his sister Betty Lou(Donald) Kessler. He was predeceased by his mother, Ethel and father Harley Dimmick, his brothers Chub and Bill and his sister Dorothy.
Russell had three passions in life, his family, his work and farming. He was the happiest when these three things joined together. He spent many of his younger years working on Mordasky Farm in Stafford and graduated high school(Stafford High) in 1959. He met his wife of 62 years, Sharon Holcomb, of Granby, CT in the summer of 1959 and they were married December 12, 1959. The two were inseparable and shared a love we can only hope to be blessed with. Russell and Sharon were a true testament of love as they worked alongside and leaned on each other through the different challenges and seasons of their lives. Russell and Sharon moved to Cape Canaverl, FL where he worked for Boeing. They moved to Granby, CT in 1961, where he worked for Command Aircraft and drove a delivery truck for Lindall Oil. Shortly after, Russell started Granby Construction. In 1967, Sharon and Russell purchased a working 60 cow dairy farm in Randolph Center, VT. Russell started Central Vermont Septic Service which was later on purchased by his son Robert. In addition to running the dairy, they opened a bed and breakfast in their home. Those years were filled with building relationships, sharing meals and sharing humor. In 1984, he started Lucky's Trailer Sales alongside his son Lucky and sold off the cows in 1986 to commit to the business full-time. The business grew and changed and he was always excited for a new endeavor, especially into becoming a Peterbilt truck dealer. He retired in 2015 due to his health and although he could not physically work like he used to, his mind never stopped dreaming of new endeavors. Russells most endearing quality was his passion to learn about others. Every customer became a friend and a lot of those friends became like family. Darlene, Lucky, and Rob all carry on the qualities of their dad that we will all miss so much.
The family wishes to give gratitude to Brandon Locke, his caregiver and grandson, for his tender compassionate care of Russell for the past 6 years. With the help and support of all of Russell's friends and family, he was able to live out his final years at home surrounded with love.
