Rufus Johnson was born on September 13, 1938 in Monroe, Louisiana to Rufus Johnson, Sr. and Emma President.
Rufus had two brothers, Thomas Johnson and Jeffie Lee Johnson.
He was a 1956 graduate of Carroll High School where he played football and met his wife, Marie Outz.
To their union three children were born, Ronald, Donald and Veronica. Rufus retired as Master Sergeant from the U.S Army after serving 28 years. He was member of the 82nd Airborne Rangers and served in Vietnam. He was also a Provost Sergeant as a military policeman.
After retiring, he worked for the postal service in Alameda, CA for 20 years.
Rufus was a proud Minister and a 33rd degree Mason who held memberships in many houses in the Prince Hall Family in the State of California.
Rufus departed this life on December 27, 2020, in Alameda, CA. He will be duly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be live-streamed at 11:30 am, on Wed., January 13, 2021 at the Miller Funeral Home, 2932 Renwick St, Monroe, LA. Following services, a military honors ceremony followed by a masonic burial will be conducted at the Richwood Memorial Gardens, 2705 Richwood Road 2, Monroe, LA.
