Rudy Gene Pannell, 78, well known resident of Dry Creek, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 9, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Services honoring the life of Mr. Pannell will be 1PM Wednesday, October 12 at Dry Creek Volunteer Fire Department with Bro. Alan Casteel and Bro. Dewayne Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Pannell was born March 29, 1944, the son of the late Richard Ray and Leola Garrett Pannell and was a graduate of Pine Grove High School. He furthered his education at Northeast Mississippi Community College and was employed as a drafting engineer in the furniture industry for most of his life.
A Christian and pillar of his community, Mr. Pannell will be remembered for being calm and brave in the worst situations, always soothing others with his words convincing them that everything would be alright, even if it seems there were is no solution. Numerous time he won titles such as Firefighter of the year, Officer of the year and Support Staff of the year, all while serving on the board of Dry Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Pannell was genuine, hard working, caring, kind, the true glue that held his family together and the "best Pawpaw in the entire world."
Those left to cherish memories include his beloved wife of 40 years, Wanda Pannell, two daughters, Sherri Harrell (Warren) of Walnut, Teresa Hughes of Ripley, four sons, Heath Pannell (Amanda) Tyler Pannell (Amber), Eric Roberts (Emily) all of Pine Grove, Ricky Pannell (Sabrina) of Newsite, one sister, Judy Young (Danny) one sister in love, Diane Gatesand two brothers, Bobby Pannell (Brenda) and G.L. Pannell (Nan), eighteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his grandson, Kane Pannell and his loyal canine companion, Hercules.
