Mrs. Ruby Jewell Shell, age 81, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at a local hospital.
Mrs. Shell was born in Bartow County, Georgia on October 22, 1939, daughter of the late Theodore Money and the late Allie Mae Scott Money. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frederic Shell. Mrs. Shell was of the Baptist faith and attended Rome Baptist Temple. Prior to retirement, she worked in the Dietary Department at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Shell loved spending time with her family and friends. She worked her word search book every day and wanted to go riding around every day all day long. She also loved to eat at O'Charley's every day. Mrs. Shell used to enjoy going on bus trips with Shorter Avenue Baptist Church and the GE Retirees.
Survivors include a son, Timothy Shell; a daughter, Angela McCary; two grandsons, Kevin McCary and Chris McCary; a brother, Jack Money; three sisters, Dean Abston, Kathleen Barnes, and Flora Sills; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with the Rev. Mack Locklear officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Tuesday from 12 noon until 1:45pm.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Tuesday at 1:30pm and include: Scott Abston, Jimmy Barnes, Tommy Barnes, Beto Castro, Sammy Shetter, and Mike Barnes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Cancer Navigators. 3 Central Plaza #415, Rome, GA 30161 or at www.cancernavigatorsga.org, or to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
