Ruby Pauline "Polly" Campbell passed away at age 94 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN and entered Heaven's gates on June 17, 2022. Polly was born before the Great Depression on December 22, 1927. Times were hard and Polly spent her early years in the foster system of that time. Then, at age 4, God sent a loving pastor and his wife to adopt Polly into the Campbell Family; she told of fond memories of those early days at the Orange Blossom Inn in Florida. The family moved back to eastern TN where Polly grew up in Morristown. She later attended Baylor University (TX) where she obtained her first degree in nursing. Polly went on to further her studies achieving her graduate degree from Murray State University (KY) while also serving as associate professor there & member of Rho Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Teachers Sorority. Polly wanted to follow in her mother's footsteps as an educator & lived & taught in many places including Cleveland, TN; North Carolina; Floyd University Rome, GA; Murray State University, Murray, KY; & Baptist Memorial Healthcare Corporation in Memphis, TN where she also served as a Nurse Practitioner. Polly Campbell loved her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ & served Him faithfully as a devoted member of Highland Heights Baptist Church in Memphis, TN where she taught the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class for more than 30 years. Her infectious smile, quick wit and warm & spirited conversation gained her many friends wherever she went. She was even featured in the 1970's edition of Personalities of the South. Anyone who knew Polly Campbell could attest that she accomplished her goal of touching many lives along the way. Polly was preceded in death by her loving parents, Arthur James Campbell & Pearle Smallen Campbell Smith, as well as her beloved fianc? who was killed in service to our country. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Highland Heights Baptist Church, 675 National Ave., Memphis, TN. Donations may be made to the church in lieu of flowers. A small graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Emma Jarnagin Cemetery, S. Fairmont Ave, Morristown, TN 37813.
