Ruby Rutherford Jennings, age 99, went to her Heavenly Home on May 15, 2022. Born in Knoxville, TN, her last residence was Ooltewah, TN. Ruby was a beautiful, loving, caring Wife, Mother, Daughter, Aunt, and Person. She was a Christian and last a member of Concord Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN for sixteen plus years, where she served the Lord as Secretary-treasurer of WMU, worked in Bible School and vistition. She also served at the Hacoba Food Bank for several years. She retired from the Federal Government, Social Security Office, where she was a claims Representative. She worked for the State Office of Transportation in Knoxville as a secretary; worked in the billing Office of Miller's Dept. Store, Proffit's Dept. Store, and Hess Dept. Store. She did substitute teaching at several different schools. She was the Lunchroom Manager and Cook at Mountain View Elementary School in Maryville, TN. She planned the meals and cooked them from scratch, including homemade bread. She also worked at the Standard Knitting Mills in Knoxville. She was a PTA Leader and Band mother in the schools of her children. She volunteered for the March of Dimes. She loved reading the Bible, cooking, decorating, sewing, and flower gardening . She was a member of the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs of Tennessee and served as Recording Secretary for Knoxville. She won awards for her flower arrangements. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Charles Fowler King Jennings, Sr.; Father, Andrew Rutherford, Sr.; Mother, Ethel Smith Rutherford; Sister, Geneva R. Wilburn; Brothers, Charles Rutherford and Andrew Rutherford, Jr; Brothers-in-law, Clarence Wilburn, Robert R. Walker, Paul W. Jennings, Zenith R. Jennings, Reuel Jennings, and John Cecil; Sisters-in-law, Ora Louise Jennings Walker, Betty Dishner Jennings, Violet Jennings, Ruth Jennings Cecil, Dorothy Jennings Richardson, Marjorie Rutherford, Anna Lee Rutherford, Ann Rutherford; Daughters-in-law, Wanda Jennings and Giselheid Fosse Jennings; Nephews, Terry Knighton, Ivan Rutherford, and Greg Hoskins. She is survived by her three children: Son, Charles Fowler King Jennings, Jr.; Son, Paul Andrew Jennings ( Carolyn); and Daughter, Rebecca Jennings Lee (Timothy W.); Four Grandchildren, John Paul Jennings (Melissa), Charles Lester Jennings (Patti), Carol Elizabeth Jennings, and Michael Andrew Jennings (Jodi). Six Great-Grandchildren: Shelbe Jo Jennings Smith (Michael), Ryan Michael Jennings, Vanessa Lynne Jennings, Kaitlyn Rebecca Jennings, Maddelyn Rose Jennings, and Aaron Charles Jennings and Two Great, Great Grandchildren: Michael and Matthew Smith; Brother-in-law, Samuel B. Jennings (Hilda) and many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Monday May 23, 2022, at ROSE FUNERAL & CREMATION BROADWAY. A funeral service will follow with Rev. David King officiating. Interment will take place on Monday May 23, 2022, at 3:30 at Piney Grove Cemetery.
