On Tuesday, February 2, 2021, Ruby Nan Colombraro, loving mother, passed away at the age of 78 of complications from Covid-19.
Ruby was born Ruby Nan Gutterson on April 30, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY. She had two children, Larry Mandala, a senior partner at Munck Wilson Mandala law firm in Dallas, and Dr. Susan Mandala, an associate professor at the University of Sunderland in the UK. In 1976, Ruby and her husband, Vinnie Colombraro, moved from Brooklyn to Atlanta. Ruby worked for many years at Lawson Products in Norcross, GA. After her husband's death in 2016, Ruby moved to Frisco, TX to be near her son and daughter-in-law.
Despite living many years in the south, Ruby never lost her Brooklyn accent. She enjoyed travel, especially to locations near the ocean. She loved romance novels, puzzles, baseball, coffee and a good sandwich. Though a private person, she made friends with all those around her.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Vinnie, her parents, Sidney and Edna, her sisters Florence, Judi and Louise and her great-nephew Frankie. She is survived by her son, Larry and his wife Juli, her daughter Susan, her step-son Vinnie, and extended family and friends in Texas, Georgia, New York and Oklahoma.
Due to the pandemic, a service will not be held at this time. The family will have a memorial service in the summer to celebrate Ruby's life. If you would like to be notified of the memorial, please send your contact information to [email protected].
