Ruben C. Schwefel

Ruben C. Schwefel, 96, of Watertown, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Spero Heritage Home in Watertown.

Ruben was born on July 3, 1929, in Watertown, the son of Carl and Elsie (Born) Schwefel. He married the love of his life Marjorie Schwefel on June 18, 1961, and the couple enjoyed 64 years of marriage before her passing in 2025. Ruben was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in North Prairie. He was a 1946 graduate of Northwestern Prep, and served many years in the Army National Guard. He worked as a mechanical engineer with Gisholt Machine then later at Waukesha Foundry. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling, and spending time down in Arizona.

He is survived by his sisters Marie Dobbratz and Ora Kuckkan, and sister-in-law Loretta Knittel. He is further survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marjorie, siblings Mytrle (George) Hrobsky, Ruth (Fred) Dobbratz, Roy Schwefel, Wilmar (Daisy) Schwefel, John Schwefel, and brother-in-law Louis Kuckkan.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at St. John's Lutheran Church in North Prairie, with Rev. Michael Nielsen presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.
