Royce Ray Kirby (88) of Pasadena, Texas passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021. He was born July 1, 1933, in Bullard, Texas to Bryant B. Kirby and Ollie Mae Roddy. Growing up in East Texas, Royce enjoyed hunting and fishing, and helped to provide for his family and six siblings. As a young man, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and received both the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Royce was a union carpenter by trade, and a Christian man who supported his family, friends, and neighbors alike. Despite an extremely difficult upbringing of his own, he took care to provide every opportunity for his family, and was especially proud of his four grandchildren, ensuring that each of them had the resources and support to complete their college educations.
Mr. Kirby is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Versie Selph Kirby; a son, Royce Wayne Kirby; parents Bryant and Ollie Mae Kirby; twin sister, Faye Vega, and siblings Maegene Kirby, Bonnie Cooper, Bryant Kirby, Wendell Kirby, and O.C. Kirby.
He is survived by his two daughters, Peggy Morgan and Ann Lucas, as well as Ann's husband, Thomas; four grandchildren, Thomas Lucas Jr., Kevin James Lucas, Alecia Wilson and husband, Micheal; Jennifer Michelle Morgan and wife, Taylor Ralston; and his two great-grandchildren, Tyler Bell and Natalie Wilson.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Grand View Funeral Home in Deer Park with services being held at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Grand View Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ted Salazar, Tyler Wilson, Micheal Wilson, Thomas Lucas, Dave Lucas, and Blaine Ralston.
