Mr. Roy E. Liechty, age 89 of Bowling Green, KY died Sunday November 14, 2021, at 6:14 am at Hospice House of Bowling Green, KY following several months of failing health.
Born July 27, 1932, in Robinson, IL Roy was born to Neal Eugene and Mona G. (Burch) Liechty. On September 9, 1960, Roy married Carol (Hall) and she preceded him in death on July 10, 1995. He Married Lois M. (Dietz) on April 16, 2002, and she survives.
Roy served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Korean War from 1949 to 1956, and he retired from Union Tank Car Company, East Chicago, IL in 1996. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #23, Bowling Green, KY; F & AM Lodge #73, Bowling Green, KY; York Rite Appendant Bodies of Bowling Green.
Survivors include his wife Mrs. Lois M. Liechty, Bowling Green, KY; a son, John Liechty, Boston, MASS; daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Charles Franklin, Valparaiso, IN, Christy Liechty and Susan Hendley, Portage, IN, Joyce Ann Aycock, Jasper, AL and Roberta Lynn and Mike Martin, San Tan, AZ. Also surviving are sisters, Marsha Hocking, Griffith, IN, and Betty Dawson, St. Paul, MN along with twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, John Liechty in 1932, a half-brother Gary Liechty in 1985; a half-sister, Jacqueline Liechty in 1980; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Harold Routien, half-sister, Janice Morgan, brother-in-law, Larry Hocking and sister and brother-in-law, Jenny, and Walter Roble
The Funeral Services will be Thursday November 18, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL with Pastor David Ducommon officiating. Interment will follow services in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday November 18, 2021, from 11:00 am until time of services at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Military Funeral Rites will be accorded by the combined units of E.M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion; VFW Post #4549, Robinson, IL; AMVETS Post #33, Palestine, IL and Reavill Post #132, Flat Rock, IL.
