Deacon Roy Joubert, age 57, passed away April 16, 2021. He was born October 28, 1963 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Margie and Earl Joubert Sr.
Roy was a unique and special person to all of those he encountered. He was the most energetic and always the life of the party. His outgoing and engaging personality brought smiles to many. At an early age, he broke barriers and overcame obstacles regularly. Being the youngest of eight children he was definitely loved the most, as any of his siblings will tell you. His most important and fulfilling role in his adult life was being a husband, father, and grandfather. His love, kindness, and generosity will be missed but remembered and felt forever.
Roy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Lake Charles, LA. Roy became a Deacon in 2018 at Friendly Will Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Rudy Williams.
Roy graduated from Washington High School in Lake Charles, LA in 1982 and went on to attend SOWELA Technical College and Austin Community College. Throughout his working life, he worked for various employers including Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, Texas Department of Public Safety, HEB, Texas Instruments and 3M. Outside of work, Roy enjoyed many hobbies and activities including P.Y.B.A. basketball Coach, Member of the Marc Thomas Chapter - Sickle Cell Foundation and he was a yearly participant in the Juneteenth Celebration in Austin. He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan and enjoyed University of Texas sports.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Shawn Joubert; children, Candice Arcenaux (Michael Brown), Joshua Joubert, Jade Joubert, and Emily Reyes, all of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Joshua Joubert Jr. and Nathan Brown; siblings, Percy McDaniel-Kelly (Michael Kelly Sr.), Audrey Owens, Viola Joubert-Williams, Clara Joseph (Ellis Joseph Sr.), and Cynthia L. Carlin (Wade M. Carlin). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in addition to his mother-in-law, Edith Williams; god-mother, Eva D. Edwards; and god-children, Michael Kelly Jr. Errin Smith, Kie'Andre Kelly and Empriss Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margie and Earl Joubert, Sr; brother, Earl Joubert, Jr.; sister, Janet Joubert-Scott and godfather, Joseph Green.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 23, 2021 from 12pm to 2pm with Funeral Services immediately following at Friendly Will Missionary Baptist Church, 706 W. 14th St, Georgetown, TX 78626.
