Roy was born November 23, 1928, and died October 8, 2011. Roy is buried in Macon Memorial Park in Macon, Georgia, USA. Macon- Roy Eugene Johstono, 82, of Macon, left this life on October 8, 2011 to join the Heavenly Choir, where he will sing, play his trumpet, or direct as needed.
Mr. Johstono was born November 23, 1928 in Macon, GA. He was the son of Hugh Emmett and Eva Patterson Johstono. He graduated from Lanier High School in 1946. After attending the University of Miami for 2 years, he completed his education at Wesleyan Conservatory, graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor of Music degree. He taught instrumental music in the Bibb County school system for 35 years. While his primary career was in Elementary Music Education, he played in multiple dance bands through the years. Roy was well known throughout the Macon music community and played in countless weddings and was continuously involved in sacred music by playing for special and seasonal services in churches throughout the middle Georgia area. He sang in the Ainsworth Choir at Mulberry, where he also served as past president of the Joy Class. In addition, Roy directed several musicals for the Macon Little Theater and for a brief time was a member of the choir at First Presbyterian Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 56 years, Roberta Johstono; his children, Roy E. Johstono, Jr. (May Britt) of Bergan, Norway, Mark Johstono of Macon, Brian Johstono (Jeanine) of Orlando, Florida, Alan Johstono (Liz) of Lake Mary, Florida and Lisa Huntt (Andy) of Kathleen, Georgia; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Donald Johstono (Betsy) of Macon.
