Rosemary Isom Young 1939-2022 Bountiful, Utah—Rosemary Isom Young, age 83, of Bountiful, Utah, died June 5, 2022. She was born March 19, 1939 in Castle Dale, Utah to Del Roy and Elida (Snow) Isom. She had five siblings, two of whom, Bruce (Evadna) Isom and Del Rae (Marlo) Menlove predeceased her. Laraine (Steve) Blackham, Kenneth (LeAnn) Isom, and Christine (Bruce) Verhaaren are still living. Rosemary attended East High School where she was valedictorian her senior year, 1956, then she attended the University of Utah where she was a member of the Spurs and Mortar Board organizations. She graduated in 1960 with a bachelors degree in Business and English. While there she met Whit Young, and they were married on December 23, 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with three children: Rebecca Rose Young (Michael) Lawyer, David Snow (Christine) Young, and Daniel Isom (Margaret) Young. During Whit's Air Force years, Rosemary lived in California, Texas, Maine, Kansas, and Missouri. She also lived in Maryland while Whit pursued a master's degree in Public Health. Rosemary taught high school English until devoting herself to raising her children. She also managed Whit's ophthalmology practice, and in more recent years, served as a secretary to the legislature while in session. Whit and Rosemary served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Illinois Peoria Mission from November 2002-May 2004, during which time they were greatly missed by their children and grandchildren. Rosemary enjoyed traveling and was able to visit Canada, Mexico, Italy, Germany, England, Scotland, Hong Kong, Hawaii, Turkey, Scandinavia, Greece, Israel, Egypt, Thailand and more. Rosemary was noted for her work ethic and commitment to thrift (she could never waste anything), her garden, fruit canning/freezing, her love of history, music, and literature, her unfailing willingness to put herself out for others, and mostly, her dedication to the gospel of Jesus Christ and her family. She is survived by her husband, Whit, her three children, 14 grandchildren: Nicholas Blair Lawyer, Melissa Rose Lawyer Peck, Elisabeth Anne Lawyer, Brigham Scott Lawyer, Margaret Valerie Lawyer, Laura Rose Young Bluth, Rachel Christine Young, Rebekah Anne Young Richter, Allison Colleen Young, Emily Rose Young Parkinson, Anna Lin Young, William Barnes Young, Abigail Mae Young, James Durtschi Young, 8 great-grandchildren, Graham Scott Lawyer, Ross Michael Lawyer, Malcolm Jensen Lawyer, Georgia Rose Lawyer, Samantha Rose Parkinson, Grant Thomas Parkinson, Owen William Young, and Rosemary Allison Young (plus three on the way!); also, her three siblings, Ken (LeAnn) Isom, Laraine (Steve) Blackham, and Christie (Bruce) Verhaaren, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge the tremendous support from extended family, the Bountiful Oak Hills Ward, and doctors, nurses, and caregivers from IMC, Applegate Hospice, BrightStar Care, and Pheasant Run Assisted Living. We are indebted to you for your loving service. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Hills ward building located at 455 South 1200 East, Bountiful. A viewing will be held at the same location the previous evening from 6:30-8:00, and before the funeral at 10:00.
