Rosemary Theresa Rehme of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, May 19, 2019 of natural causes. Rosemary was born on July 25, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri. She and her husband, John, moved frequently in the early years of their marriage. They called Springfield, Illinois, Indianapolis, Indiana and St. Louis, Missouri home, until 1964, when they moved to Dallas and chose Texas as their permanent home. Rosemary was a devoted wife and loving mother. She spent countless hours volunteering and succeeded in making the world a better place for those she served. In 1978, she became the first president of the Tourette Syndrome Society of Dallas upon learning of her son's diagnosis. In the evenings, she was rarely without a sewing needle in hand. She reupholstered furniture, drafted her own patterns, and created such things as party dresses and formals, draperies and a wedding dress for a friend in need. As the nuns at St. Rita School transitioned from their habits, it was Rosemary who created their new clothing. Her dinner parties were legendary and always ended with the guests standing around the piano singing late into the evening. And, somehow, the flowers in her garden always managed to thrive in August despite the North Texas oppressive heat! She was strong by nature. She survived and recovered from three bouts of pneumonia as a child and three cancers, three heart attacks and several strokes as an adult. She was undaunted by challenges! Her final years were spent living at Silverado Turtle Creek. Although somewhat limited in her activity, she still managed to bring her indomitable spirit and quick wit to that community. The family is forever grateful to the entire staff and caregivers who helped make her feel loved and, most importantly, purposeful. She is preceded in death by her dear son, John J. Rehme Jr. in 1978, by her loving husband of 63 years, John J. Rehme Sr. in 2009, and her devoted son, Robert J. Rehme, who passed away just twelve hours earlier the same day. In addition, Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Walter
Stein, her brother, Wally Stein, and her sisters, Evelyn Cuba and Carol Evans. Rosemary is survived by her two daughters, Christine Scully and Nancy and Bill Hockridge. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Stein, her
sister, Lenore Gerber, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, twenty-two nieces and nephews, and many, many lifelong friends. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 11 o'clock at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road, Dallas. Interment will take place at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
