Rosemary Geiss, 88, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the Protestant Home. She was born December 27, 1933 in Evansville to the late Joseph and Cecelia (Lensing) Tisserand.
Rosemary graduated from St. Benedict Grade School and Memorial High School. In 1983, she graduated from the University of Evansville with a Bachelor of Science degree Cum Laude. She was an active and long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she and her husband, Jim, received the Bruté Award. She also was an oblate of St. Meinrad, a member of the Hallmark club and Children’s Theatre. Rosemary was generous with her time, volunteering for many organizations, including the Hope Cancer Center and St. Mary Church. Rosemary was full of spirit, very thoughtful and she never met a stranger. She always made a point to make those around her feel comfortable and as if they were her closest friend. Rosemary and Jim loved spending time together antiquing, as well as collecting and dealing antiques. Rosemary was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She and Jim looked forward to Mondays when they would entertain their grandchildren after school. They also had St. Nicholas parties for their grandchildren where fun was had by all. They also held Easter egg busts and a Thanksgiving Dressing party. They were world-wide travelers, especially enjoying the Bahamas. Rosemary was an avid card player and liked participating in various Bridge clubs and Jeopardy clubs. She admired and appreciated the talents of Tom Brady and enjoyed following his career from New England to Tampa Bay.
Rosemary is survived by her children, Greg Geiss, Joseph (Michele) Geiss, Gloria (Terry) Collins and Fred (Liz) Geiss; daughter-in-law, Peggy Geiss; grandchildren, Ryan (Jenni) Collins, Jenna Geiss, Craig (Lauren) Geiss, Steven (Emily) Geiss, Grant Geiss (fiancée, Hallie Frenzel), Brett Collins, Haley (Derek) Baker and Lindsey Geiss; great grandchildren, Lucas Geiss, Theo Geiss, Emma Geiss and Josiah Baker; nephew, Michael Tisserand; and special caring friends, Laura, Missy and Diane.
In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Geiss; and brother, Jerry Tisserand.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue where a Memorial service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2022 at Sts. Mary and John Parish-St. Mary Church, 605 Cherry Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Stephen Lintzenich officiating. Masks are optional.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
