Rose Margaret Krukenkamp nee Fangman
Devoted wife, loving mother and true friend.
Rose Margaret Fangman was born September 21, 1904 in Humphrey Nebraska. She was the youngest daughter of Catherine and Anton Fangman with seven siblings. Rosie, as her brothers Victor and Sylvester called her, was a tomboy who loved to play ball and spent more time with her two brothers than her sisters. Being the youngest, she was the last to leave the house and remained to help her mother after her father was seriously injured while crossing the street. She met Walter Krukenkamp, a pharmacy student at Creighton University and the two were married in the fall of 1929. They remained in Omaha until the birth of their daughter Marilyn in 1930. Rose left Omaha with Walter and Marilyn to begin a new life as wife and mother in Walter's hometown, St. Louis, MO. She devoted herself to a life as a wife and mother. Rose was comfortable being the heart of the family while Walter grew his business owning several pharmacies and later along with his brother Raymond, constructing a medical building to house their pharmacy and dental office. Rose did step into the limelight to become president of the St. Louis Chapter of Women's Organization of National Association Registered Druggists. However, her greatest delight was being with her family and participation at daily Mass. Rose had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and would pray the rosary daily. Rose was a wonderful model of a wife and mother. After loosing the love of her life, Rose moved to California to be close to her middle daughter Diane. She spent time with her grandson and would often stay with him while Diane would accompany her husband Jerry on business trips abroad. In 1978, she encouraged her youngest daughter Cheryl and children to relocate to Southern California after Cheryl's divorce. Rose was a dear Nana to three and spent a great deal of time with her grandchildren. She died in February 1986 but she still lives on in the memories of her only surviving daughter, Cheryl, her two remaining son-in-laws Jerry and Richard and her grandchildren.
