Rosalie McGuffin, 97, was born in St. Louis, MO on June 12, 1925 to her parents, Theodore Sims and Adena Smith. She was married to her lifelong love, Ennis Spencer McGuffin, in Chicago, IL in 1949. They were blessed with a son, Addison McGuffin II. She went on to glory Friday, December 30, 2022, in the loving arms of her son.
Rosalie was a master teacher for the State of Indiana and the Gary Community School Corporation (GCSC). Over her career she was recognized with many notable commendations, including the GCSC Distinguished Teacher of the Year award, as well as multiple certificates of appreciation from GCSC Leadership. She helped design and deliver innovative primary education curriculums for the GCSC public schools. She lovingly taught and inspired 1000's of elementary school students for over forty-nine years. She and her husband Ennis dedicated their lives to enabling the futures of countless students and young adults - many who might have been written off went on to hold prominent roles in society. Outside of the classroom she actively enjoyed gardening and landscaping, reading all types of literature, and always meeting new people.
She is survived by her son, Addison McGuffin II and fianc?e, Nita Patel of Dallas, TX and Chicago, IL and grandchildren, Elijah McGuffin of Chicago, IL and Indya McGuffin of Oakland, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Adena Sims; her loving husband of 50 years, Ennis Spencer McGuffin; sister, Dora Finley and brothers, Theodore 'Ted' Sims Jr., Samuel 'Sam' Sims, Hosea 'Hossie' Sims and Julius 'Jute' Sims.
Cherished memories will linger on with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who she dearly loved and always made time for.
Family and Friend Visitation will take place Saturday, January 7, 2023, 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero, TX. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023, 1:30 PM at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero, TX with Rev. Marcellus Wesley officiating.
