Rosa Lee Johnson, 92, of St Petersburg, Florida passed away May 5, 2023. She was born on June 15, 1930 in Gainesville, Florida to Cephus Johnson and Lillie Mae Paige. She grew up with one brother and two sisters. As a child she enjoyed reading, gardening and football. She was a Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan and enjoyed weekly updates on their performance from family. She was a member of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America/St Petersburg, FL and a donor to Habitat Humanity and Doctors Without Borders. She also contributed to the King Memorial in Washington, DC where her name appears on the wall at the memorial. She was well travelled, having visited many other countries outside of the US. She graduated from Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach with a bachelor's degree in education. After graduation she started her career as a high school teacher and spent over 30 years teaching and developing generations of students. She taught with the Job Corps, taking her around the country. She delighted in her students' performance and achievements. Rosa was a caring and loving woman who was devoted to her family. Although she had no children of her own, she considered all the students she taught her children. She was fun loving and well humored. Rosa is survived by Wilmateen Jones, sister, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and Fred Alexander, brother, Katherine Brooks, sister. The family will receive friends from 12pm-1pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Funeral services will follow at Anderson McQueen Northeast Chapel at 1pm. A private family inurnment is planned for a later date at Sunnyside Cemetery. Thank you for your support.
