Dr. Ronnie E. Mobley of Oconee County, age 74, passed away on Saturday May 21st, 2022. Dr. Mobley was born on January 25, 1948 to the late Ruth Page Mobley and Aubrey Eugene Mobley. Dr. Mobley graduated from Oconee County High school in 1966, from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1971 and from The Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry in 1974. Dr. Mobley served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserves for many years where he achieved the rank of Captain.
Dr. Mobley opened his family dental practice in Watkinsville, GA in 1977 and served his patients for over 40 years. He was a member of the Oconee Civitan Club and The Oconee High School Warrior Club for many years and he enjoyed supporting these organizations with his time and talents. He coached countless ball teams for his children over the years.
Dr. Mobley was a lifelong member of Hebron Christian Church in Oconee County.
His friends affectionately referred to him as "Doc". He was an avid Dawg Fan, an outdoorsman and loved to hunt. Doc was known for his cooking skills and hosted regular gatherings for friends. He loved to garden and especially enjoyed sharing his harvest with his neighbors. He also considered it his ministry to call on the sick and elderly in the community.
Dr. Mobley is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rita Acree Mobley, originally of Gordon County, GA. He is also survived by his four children, Dr. Rhonda Mobley (Scott Rary), David Mobley, Amy Allen (Brandon Allen) and Dr. Alan Mobley; and his 11 grandchildren, Cale Rary, Sage Rary, Luke Rary, Ruth Rary, Kathryn Rary, Andrew Mobley, Reese Mobley, Royal Mobley, Blake Allen, Aiden Allen, and Wyatt Allen.
Funeral services will be held Thursday May 26, 2022 at 11am at Hebron Christian Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8pm.
Pallbearers include Billy Fleming, Eddie Garrett, Mac Hayes, GA Nasworthy, Terrin Watkins, Matt Dickens, Larry Cook and Mike Coker.
Honorary Pallbearers include David Thompson, Richard Hawk, Johnny Michael, Ned Michael, Bobby Sanders, Joe Harrison, Curtis Ferguson and Tim Mobley
