Ronald Vance Sellers Sr., age 97 of Cleveland TN, passed away peacefully at LifeCare of Cleveland on Thursday, August 24, 2023, going home to his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ after a brief illness. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle, Great Uncle, Brother, friend, and mentor to all his beloved family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 74 years, Mary Elise Sellers, Cleveland, TN; parents, Elonzo (Holly) Sellers, Franklin, TN; brothers Melvin (Elsie) Sellers, Franklin, TN; and L.C. Greene, Nashville, TN; and sister, Dorothy (Alex) Ferrell, Nashville, TN; brother in law, Bud (Shirley) Putman, Lawrenceburg, TN; sisters-in-law Clara Dotson(Chester), Franklin, TN; Christine Swafford (Joe), Nashville, TN; Lois (Andy) Flannigan; and Loucile Putman, Lawrenceburg, TN.
He is survived by his brother, Bill Sellers, Auburn, AL and his five children: Linda Susan Sellers Arp

A native of Franklin, TN he was a 1942 graduate of Franklin High School, a World War II Navy Veteran, and a 1949 graduate of the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Ron had a highly successful 35 plus year career with State Farm Insurance as an agent in Dickson, TN and Columbia, TN and then as an award-winning District Manager in the Southeast Tennessee area. He recruited, hired, trained and mentored many of the State Farm agents who are still active in the Cleveland area today. He was an active and devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland, Rotary Breakfast Club, and past United Way of Cleveland and Habitat for Humanity volunteer. Ron was an ever-faithful Volunteer Alumnus who loved UTK sports, especially football, basketball & baseball. He was also a passionate Atlanta Braves fan. An avid golfer for many years he was the oldest member of Cleveland Country Club where even in his nineties he made his seventh hole-in-one on number 17.
The family gives special thanks to the staff and his many friends he made while living at Garden Plaza these past few years and to the caregivers at LifeCare of Cleveland. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland on Monday, 8/28/23 with receiving of friends from 3-5 p.m. EST followed by the Memorial Service at 5 p.m. EST. The family will hold a private internment at the Chattanooga National Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 8/29/23.
