A graveside memorial service for Ronald Lee Patterson, 73, of Thornville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, at the Community Gardens Cemetery, New Lexington, with Rev. Dick Newlon as celebrant. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 South Main Street in Thornville.
Ron passed away early July 27, 2021 in Newark following an extended illness. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio on May 14, 1948, the son of the late Carl and Estella Mae (Roberts) Patterson. A 1966 graduate of Sheridan High School, he completed union trade school prior to beginning a career with Owens Corning Fiberglas in Newark where he worked as a pipe fitter. Following his retirement from Owens, he worked for four years with the Northern Perry County Water Department. He also attended farrier school in Oklahoma, and enjoyed all things related to horses and horse shows. He served as a 4-H horse advisor for 16 years.
Ron was a member of the AMVETS post at Thornport, served as Past Commander of the Sons of the AMVETS, and belonged to the Buckeye Lake Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed golfing and cooking and smoking meats as well as catering local events.
He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Susan (Clouse), whom he married on January 29, 1972; his daughter, Staci (Jason) Goodwin of Tennessee; his grandsons, Drake and Duke; along with his brother, Paul (Sue) Robison; and several nieces and nephews.
