Our family has lost a ray of sunshine. Ronald Kim Farnsworth (Kim) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ronald Lance Farnsworth and Jessie Lenore Mecham.
Kim grew up in Roosevelt, Utah, with his sister and three brothers where they spent their time learning to love the great outdoors. His parents shared many adventures that included camping, fishing, hunting, and gardening activities that gave him joy throughout his life. He especially took to fishing and shared the best fishing holes with his brothers.
Kim married Sharlette Richens in 1984 in Roosevelt, Utah, and they had five amazing children, Adam, Andy, Rodger, Kandee and Lance. His first priority was spending time with his kids and sharing his love of the outdoors teaching them how to camp and fish and to appreciate what nature had to offer.
He guided them into adulthood and was their biggest cheerleader.
Kim had careers that took him from his first job of dishwashing at the young age of 14 to building railroad cars, working in construction, and logging.
Kim and his family moved to Boise, Idaho, in 1999 where he worked in production and warehousing.
Family was always the most important part of Kim's life and his mom could not believe that he was able to share 65 Thanksgivings with her, sometimes driving his family through 3 feet of snow to be there. This year he will be there in spirit.
Kim loved the trips he took to the Oregon coast and the time he spent time fishing for sturgeon with his brothers, seemingly to always catch the biggest fish. He would get one on the line and yell oh oh and hand off the rod before he was pulled overboard. Kim was happy working in his yard, growing tomatoes, roses and butterfly bushes. He kept the birds and squirrels fed and enjoyed the entertainment they offered. He loved his beautiful fish aquarium, sci-fi movies, and could make a mean chocolate cake. He was an amazing man.
He will be reunited with his dad, Ron and his dog, PUG who was his companion for many years.
He leaves behind his sons, Lance, Rodger, Andy and Adam; and his daughter, Kandee; and their mother, Sharlette; his brothers, Kelly, Kirk and Kris; his sister, Becky; and his mother, Jessie.
His family was at his side as he fought a brave battle with cancer. We were so lucky to have been picked to be Kim's family. His loving spirit, love of family and fishing, his care and simple pleasures will remain in our memories forever.
