Ronald Craig "Ron" Barton, age 74, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at his residence.
Ron was born in Rome, Georgia on November 22, 1947, son of the late Harold Lloyd "Judge" Barton and the late Frances Eloise Kerns Barton. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army where he served during the Vietnam War and was 100% disabled from his time of service. Ron sold cars for many years and retired from Greater Community Bank as a Loan Officer. He was considered by many as a Blue-Collar Banker because he gave people chances when no one else would. Everyone that knew Ron loved him because with him what you saw was what you got. He was the last of the "Possum Republic" that hung out almost daily in the shop at Armuchee Auto Collision. Ron loved restoring classic cars, riding motorcycles, woodworking, western dancing, Bluegrass Music, and especially enjoyed spending time playing banjo and making music with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Marie Duncan Barton; two daughters, Kristen Wagner (Robin), and Keri Burkett (Linc); six grandchildren, Bodie Fox, Blaine Fox, Ryleigh Wagner, Gauge Burkett, Kelsie Burkett, and Brenya Wheeler; a sister, Sherry Baker; a brother, Jim Barton, several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 5 until 8pm.
