Romayne Olson Schlagel, 89 of Battle Lake died Monday, July 1, 2019, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center. Funeral Service 11AM, Monday, July 8, 2019 at Folden Lutheran Church of rural Vining, MN.
Romayne Udell Albertson was born on April 24, 1930, at home in Maine Township, rural Underwood, Minnesota the daughter of Oliver Nelver Albertson and Hazel Sarafine (Bjork) Albertson. She attended school in Leaf Mountain Township District #168 and then continued her education with the Henning Public School.
On November 2, 1946, she married Donald Berten Olson in Vining, Minnesota. They had four children, Dona, Dale, Diane and Dennis. They lived a short time on a farm by Henning, before purchasing their dairy farm in Folden Township. She was a homemaker and after her family was raised she worked as a Social Service Homemaker. Romayne attended Alexandria Technical College becoming a Home Health Aid and then worked as a Switch Board Operator for Otter Tail County. After fifty years of marriage, Donald passed away on November 27, 1996.
On December 20, 1997, Romayne married Ralph Schlagel and they made their home in Tucson, Arizona. After ten years of marriage Ralph passed away and Romayne continued to live in Tucson for seven more years and then returned to Vining to be closer to family.
She is survived by two daughters, Dona (Mike) Currie and Diane (Dave) Brown both of Vining; two daughters-in-law, Diane Olson of Henning and Leslie Olson of Maple Grove; two brothers, Marlin (Pat) Listrom of Perham and Delmar (Nancy) Listrom of Alexandria; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Romayne was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Olson and Ralph Schlagel; two sons, Dale Olson and Dennis Olson; granddaughter, Jacqueline Olson. Glende-Nilson FH-Battle Lake
