Roger (Rod) M. Sparks, age 91 of Bloomington passed away Saturday morning October 24, 2020 at Garden Villa in Bloomington, Indiana. He was born on June 27, 1929 in Monroe County to Herschel William Sparks and Lillian Crane Sparks.
Roger was a 1947 graduate of Bloomington High School. He owned and operated Sparks Mobile Home Transport for 55 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of McDoel Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1081, and a 36 year member of the American Legion Post 18.
Roger will be fondly remembered for his broad smile, pleasant personality, and as being one of the softest hearted guys you could ever meet.
He leaves behind his brother Carl Sparks and wife Kathryn of Bloomfield, sister Norma Graebe of Bloomington, sister Carol Tow and husband Barney ofBloomington. Also surviving are step daughter-in-law Janice Freeman, and step grandchildren Kim and Chris Freeman. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois Sparks, sister Rebecca Whaley, brother in law Orval Whaley, infant sister Doris Sparks, brother William Sparks, sister in law Charlotte Sparks, brother Bruce Sparks, brother in law Ross Graebe and step son Durwood Freeman.
Funeral services for Roger will be held Wednesday, October 26th, at 12:00PM Noon at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37. He will beentombed in the Valhalla Memory Gardens in a private family service.
