Rodney Steve McKee passed away June 1, 2022, at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, Georgia at the age of 67 after a courageous battle against cancer. Born September 20, 1954, he was the son of the late Dorothy Voss McKee Wilkes and Donald Wilkes and the late Elijah P. McKee, Jr.
One year after graduating from Culleoka School in 1972, Rodney married his homecoming queen, Brenda Cannady, in their hometown of Culleoka, Tennessee. Over the course of their 48-year marriage, they raised 3 children. Rodney worked for many years at Monsanto in Columbia, Tennessee, as an electrician before accepting a job as a purchasing agent at Kimberly-Clark and relocating his family to Woodstock, Georgia. The very definition of "car guy," Rodney enjoyed trading vehicles, especially '57 Chevys, Corvettes, and the occasional Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He rooted for the Tennessee Vols as well as the Atlanta Braves, enjoyed golf, and especially loved spending time with his grandkids, whether at a baseball game or music recital. He also loved loading his family up and heading to Disney World, Panama City Beach or the Smoky Mountains.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda, and children: Jennifer (Brandon) Ogden of Canton, Georgia; Tiffany (Chris) McFarland of Woodstock, Georgia; Rodney (Jessica) McKee, Jr. of Rincon, Georgia. He is the proud Papa of grandchildren: Jacob and Julianna Ogden; Alison and Alex McFarland; and Avery and Asher McKee.
Rodney is also survived by brothers: Doug (Elaine) McKee of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Don (Diane) McKee and Kerry Wilkes of Culleoka, Tennessee; sisters: Martha Kay (Terry) Boatright of Columbia, Tennessee, and Lois (Donnie) Gibbs, of Hermitage, Tennessee. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Robert (Wendy) Cannady of Culleoka and sister-in-law, Cindy (Don) Moore of College Grove, Tennessee. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who provided excellent care to Rodney during his illness.
