Rocky Lane Jones, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the age of 71 in McAllen, Texas. He was born on June 6, 1951 in Monte Vista, Colorado to Dorothy (Hunter) and RL Jones. Rocky was known to his friends and family as a man who loved to laugh. He was always ready to help out family and neighbors and could make tedious jobs fun with his jokes and stories.
He was an avid fisherman who would lovingly remove hooks from his kids' hair and replace bait for them any number of times. The camping trips he planned and executed for his family were epic, as were his cookouts. He and his wife, Clarice, hosted the Jones' Chili Cook-off, an annual event in Monte Vista, CO., that all looked forward to. Rocky was enthusiastic for a round of gold whether a twosome or foursome. He loved sports, especially the Colorado Avalanche and Denver Broncos.
In Center, Colorado, he was a member of the Fire Department and EMS for many years. People knew Rocky as a superb salesman. His people skills served him well in radio sales and broadcasting, the auto parts business, and several years in McAllen as a residential real estate appraiser. He was a devout Catholic and lived his faith. Family and friends will remember Rocky as a hard-working and strong family man who was always true to his word and ideals.
Rocky is survived by his wife of 50 years, Clarice; his children: sons, Jeremiah and Jacob (Jessica), daughters: Consuelo Madril and Krystal (John) Newton; sisters: Jerry Dodd, Carol Jones and Connie Coleman; and sisters in law: Georgiana Moran and Trish Jones. He is also remembered by Roy Ozuna, his close friend and appraisal assistant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Craig (known as Panda), son in law Earnest Madril and mother in law Elsie Moran.
