Roberta Clemence (Currier) Baum , 91 years old, of Fort Pierce, Florida, peacefully went to be with our Lord on Sunday,January 21st, 2024.
Roberta was born to Ambrose (Sr.) and Viola Currier, and was a native of Syracuse, NY. She was a housewife and mother,worked 10 years for Stanton Foundry, Solvay, NY, and graduated from Central High School. Roberta, whose friends called her "Bobbie", was married to Jack Baum, who died January 2014. They enjoyed the game of golf together, as well as caring for their young grandson and later their great- granddaughters.
Raised Catholic, converted to Protestant during the early years of her marriage to Jack, they attended the Community Church of the Nazarene in Syracuse, NY. She was an active and devoted church member serving in the children's ministry teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and studied the Word of God as often as she could in Bible studies and home study. She prayed often for others and sent many letters of encouragement to family and friends. Surviving relatives include her daughter, Cynthia L. Baum, of Fort Pierce, FL, sons, Scott P. (Rene) Baum, of Garner, NC, Mark L. Baum, of Syracuse, NY, sister Carol Gibbons of Syracuse, NY, half-brother Ambrose Currier, Jr., one grandson, Matthew S. (Ashley) Baum, of Fort Pierce, FL, two granddaughters, Ashley (Keith)VanderVelde of Willow Springs, NC, and Nicole (Eliot Payne) Baum of Washington, DC, six great granddaughters, Lillyanna Elizabeth Baum, Isabella Mattison Baum, Grace Jenalee Baum, Shiloh Alexandria Rose Baum, Chloe Elizabeth VanderVelde, and Reese Olivia VanderVelde. A Memorial Service for Roberta will be held: Tuesday, June 11, 2024 @ 11 AM Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery 4069 Howlett Hill Road Syracuse, New York 13215
Guests are invited to join Roberta's family and friends for lunch following the service.
