Robert L. "Benny" Wilmot, age 86 of Akron, OH passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022. He was born on November 5, 1935 in Akron to the late Virgil and Elma (Holmes) Wilmot. Benny retired from the Ford Motor Company following 39 years of service. He enjoyed working around the house as well as gardening. Benny will be remembered for his big heart and kindness to others; he never knew a stranger. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Barbara (Bower) Wilmot, and 8 other siblings. Benny is survived by his daughter, Shirley Wilmot, grandchildren: Robert Craft, Heather Wilmot, and Andrew Wilmot, brother, Virgil Wilmot Jr., and partner, Pauline "Cricket" Lattimer. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Benny's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital (262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
