Robert Allen "Rip" Willis, age 92, of Amelia, passed from this life on June 29, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Edward and Mary Virginia Skelton Willis and is survived by his wife, Wilma (Flippin) Willis and several nephews and nieces. Rip was a retired barber having operated his business for over 50 years. He was a member and past Master of Amelia Lodge 101, ACCA Shriners of Richmond, Va. , a Navy Veteran of WWII having served in the Pacific theatre, and member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Amelia, a member of the Amelia VFW and was instrumental in building the Veterans Center, a charter member of the Amelia Fire Dept. and the Amelia Emergency Squad, served on the Amelia County Board of Supervisors and Dept. of Social Services for over 12 years, and a charter member of the Amelia Lions Club. His many stories of history and events were a treasure to the ears of his customers in his barber shop. Funeral services 11AM on Wednesday July 3, at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. in Amelia with burial following the Amelia Presbyterian Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home 6-8PM on Tuesday. Masonic services will be held on Tuesday at 6PM prior to visitation.
