Robert Williams, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully in Williamsburg, VA.
He was born to Robert N. Williams, Sr. and Constance Gibbs Miller in Milwaukee, WI. Robert graduated from the University School in Milwaukee, Hamilton College and Stanford University. He also served as a Lieutenant in the Navy on the USS Princeton.
He married Sharon (Caufield) Williams and raised his three children in Longmeadow, MA and New Canaan, CT. He retired to Skidaway Island and then Williamsburg, VA where Sharon predeceased him.
He married Susan Stanhope Garrett in 2004 and they spent 17 happy years in Williamsburg.
Upon moving to Williamsburg Robert followed his passion of US History and volunteered at Historic Jamestowne for years. He continued his love of gardening, traveling and cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers. He treasured his many lifelong friends but most of all he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife Susan and three children: Paige W. Hebert of San Francisco, Geoffrey W. Williams of Richmond, VA and Quimby (John) Margaretten of San Francisco; six grandchildren Bo and Geoff Hebert, Riley and Colson Williams and Libby and Olivia Margaretten; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Bucktrout of Williamsburg and burial will be in Longmeadow, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's name can be made to Historic Jamestowne in Jamestown, VA or the Benevolence Fund at Williamsburg Landing.
