Robert D. "Bob" Van Husan, 92, of Dowagiac, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church in Dowagiac. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dowagiac First United Methodist Church or the Dowagiac Conservation Club. Bob was born February 15, 1930, in Bronson, MI, to Harold and Marguerite (Wyatt) Van Husan. He participated in many sports, graduating from Bronson High School in 1947. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy. On September 2, 1951, he married the love of his life, Onnolee Jean Davis. Bob's passion for business started as a young boy working in the butcher shop for his father. He worked for several major grocery chains as a butcher, meat buyer, store manager, and a regional store manager. Bob and Onnolee started their own businesses, the One Hour Martinizing in Dowagiac, Kalamazoo and Cassopolis that they co-operated from 1962-1992.
Bob was always involved in his community. He was a bank board member for Community State Bank, then Huntington Bank for 25 years. Bob had a love of animals, especially horses and dogs. He raised German Shorthaired Pointers and racing quarter horses. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. Bob loved spending time with his dog Jake, his family and watching Westerns.
Bob is survived by his children, Dan (Christine) Van Husan, Lynne Van Husan, and Bill Van Husan; grandchildren, Charley (Julie), Kelly (James), Brian, Amanda (Rudy), Katie, Michael (Kelly), and Maggie (Travis); great-grandchildren, Konner, Beni, Bodee, Wyatt; and his dog, Jake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Wife, Onnolee Jean Van Husan; son, Jeffery Wayne Van Husan, and sister, Sally Wiler.
