Robert Van Alst, Jr

A celebration of life for Robert Howard Van Alst, Jr, age 52, of Ogilvie was held Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Borgholm Township Hall, 16401 70th Avenue, Milaca, MN. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the Mille Lacs County Dirt Devils, 16593 145th Avenue, Milaca, MN 56353. Please make a memo that it's for the Robert Van Alst Memorial.

Robert was born June 28, 1973 in Minneapolis, MN to Bob and Lil Van Alst. He spent indoctrinated days at Ogilvie and Milaca Schools, graduating from Milaca. As a youngster, he worked on the family farm south of Bock. He worked at Federated, then at eRide in Princeton building electric vehicles for government federales. As a kid, he lived in Brooklyn Park, moved to Ogilvie near the Van Alst family farmstead, then to Milaca and then returned to Ogilvie. He passed away Friday, December 26, 2025.

Rob is survived by his Queen Bee Mamasita, Lil; three sistas, Tammy (Ken VanderVegt) of Ogilvie, Trish (Tom) Robak of Foley and Bobbi (Brian) Erickson of Jacobson; girlfriend, Jessica Johnson; nephews, Kyle, Dakota, Corbin, Kenneth and Dennis; nieces, Carla and Kaylynann and many aunts, uncles, cousins, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, close friend, Mark Boyle and many other great friends.

Rob crossed over and was greeted by those who preceded him: grandparents, Howard and Betty Van Alst and Lawrence and Margery Nelson; papasita, Bob Van Alst; uncle, Butch Don Freese; auntie, Linda Parker and close friend, Brian Nelson.
