Robert E. Valle of Stuart, Florida passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022. Born in Gouverneur, New York on January 4, 1926 to Raymond and Grace Estleford Valle, Bob moved to Florida from Hartford Connecticut in 1985 where he served as a Senior Vice-President and chief agency officer for the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company.
During WW II Bob served in the Army Air Corps as a crew member on a B17 flying air-sea rescue missions from the Mariana islands in the South Pacific. Bob graduated from Syracuse University in 1950 where he was a member of their intercollegiate wrestling team. He spent his entire 35 year professional career with the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company. He was a Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) and a graduate of executive development programs of Dartmouth and Columbia Universities.
During his retirement, Bob served on the boards of Martin County Arts Council, the American Red Cross, Martin Memorial Foundation and several Connecticut banks. He was also an avid member of his church choir an a cappella singing group, the Vocal Gentry.
Bob was a longtime pilot. He enjoyed all sports with a particular passion for snow skiing. As an Eagle Scout, he also retained a life-long special interest in scouting.
Bob is survived by his wife of 79 years, Joy, and his son, David Valle, M.D. (Susan). His daughter, Robin, predeceased him. He will be missed by his grandson, Josh (Mary); great granddaughter, Margaret; brothers, Richard and Steve; sister, Ramona; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later time in the Mariner Sands Chapel.
