Robert Bruno Vaillancourt, Sr, 80, passed away on July 29,2023 after a long illness.
He was born on October 4,1942 in Berlin, New Hampshire and raised there by his parents, Leo and Elizabeth LaPointe Vaillancourt.
As a youth, Rob played a lot of hockey and continued to do so well into adulthood. He played for the Concord Shamrocks from 1963-1966. Rob was a graduate of Notre Dame High School class of 1961 and a graduate of Southern New Hampshire University in 1968. Rob then lived in Berlin, NH and worked for local finance companies and the State of New Hampshire as an auditor. He was a member of the Berlin- Gorham Jaycees. Rob, also, taught Civic classes at his alma mater, Notre Dame High School. While there he coached hockey and baseball.
In 1978, Rob earned his real estate license and moved with his family to Manchester, NH where he sold and invested in real estate.
In 1993, Rob moved to Florida where he worked both as a realtor and a loan officer.
On September 19, 1998, Rob married Maureen (Martin Best) Vaillancourt on the first anniversary of their meeting. They worked together as a team in real estate for Coldwell Banker in Boca Raton. FL. In 2003, Rob and Maureen moved to Palm City, Fl to be closer to Maureen's daughters. There they joined REMAX of Stuart. While there, Rob was active with the Martin County Stuart Chamber of Commerce, the St Lucie River Power Squadron, and the American Red Cross.
Rob loved his family, traveling, boating and his New England Sports especially the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox even going to several Super Bowls. He even had Dolphin Season Tickets for many years. After giving up the tickets, Sundays would find him at various sports bars or in his "man cave" cheering for his team.
Rob and Maureen traveled throughout much of the US, South America, Europe, Africa and China and he loved to collect magnets from all the places that they visited.
Rob will be remembered for his friendly personality, his laugh, and his great smile.
Rob is survived by his loving wife of almost 25 years, Maureen, his 3 children: Robert Vaillancourt, Jr (Manchester, NH), Gail Vaillancourt (Derry, NH) and Randy Vaillancourt (Jennifer) (Nashua NH), Maureen's 3 children: Gregory Best (Victoria) (Seattle, WA), Shannon Best Logan (Bryce)(The Woodlands, Texas) and Meghan Best Rost (Bryan)(Palm City ,FL), 10 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, Brothers: David Setsky (Rockville, CT) and William Haggerty (Dora) (Miami, FL) Sister: Susan Moenning (Stuart, FL), Former Spouse and Mother of his children, Priscilla Sidley (Derry, NH) and 4 nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Elizabeth LaPointe Vaillancourt and his brother-in law, John Martin, Jr. (Jamestown, NY).
The Vaillancourt Family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Addington Place of Stuart, where Rob lived the final 19 months of his life, for the loving care that they gave him during his illness and the Treasure Coast Hospice which helped him in his final days.
There will be a Funeral Mass at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 1454 SW Mapp Rd, Palm City at 10:00 on Friday September 15th, followed by a short graveside service at Forest Hills Cemetery and then a Celebration of Life at the Vaillancourt home.
