Robert "Bob" Scott was born Sept. 5, 1933 in Hastings, Nebraska, to Walter and Dorothy Scott. He had one older brother, Harold Scott.
After high school graduation in 1952, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served as a Gunner's Mate aboard the USS Tills (DE-748). After a 1954 honorable discharge, Bob studied forestry at Oregon State University, then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Mgt. at Humboldt State University.
During summers while attending college, Bob worked as a seasonal National Park Ranger at Crater Lake National Park. He married Marilyn Wood June 14, 1959. They had two sons, Bret and Eric Scott.
Bob worked at Petrified Forest National Monument, AZ as a seasonal park ranger before taking a permanent position at Carlsbad Caverns National Monument, NM.
Over the next several decades, Bob served in various positions in the National Parks: as a Ranger at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Grand Canyon National Park, as District Ranger in Grand Canyon and Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Parks. He was Superintendent at Ft. Clatsop N.M., OR, Craters of the Moon N.M. in Idaho and at San Juan National Historic Site in Friday Harbor, WA. He retired from the National Park Service having served 42 years.
Bob was active both in Rotary and Lions Clubs. Bob passed lived in Anacortes, WA until his passing on November 9th, 2021. He is survived by his youngest son Eric and six grandchildren.
