Age 94, of Hamburg passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital on January 13, 2020 due to complications from a fall. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor V. Sage (nee Gorczyca), three brothers, Kenneth, Nelson and Charles Sage, a nephew/adopted son, Charles Sage, Jr. and Bob's parents, Fred and Margaret Sage. He is survived by his companion of 22 years, Carolyn Gorczyca and four children, Nancy (Charles) Cole of Mechanicsburg, PA, Robert Sage, Jr. of Sinclairville, NY, Margaret Hanrahan of Orchard Park, NY and Michael (Susan) Sage of Vancouver, WA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Sara Cole, Sean Hanrahan, Milo Hanrahan, Autumn Sage and Robyn Sage. Bob was a World War II veteran having earned a Bronze Star and Combat Action Pin for his service in the Pacific Theater. He was a member and past Commander of American Legion Post 63, a member of the VFW and Hilltoppers organization and was a Railroad Engineer on the South Buffalo Railway for over 35 years. Bob was a kind, generous and compassionate man with a keen sense of humor and gentle demeanor. He was greatly loved by his family and had many friends. In his younger years, he liked to fish and hunt and he and his family took many camping trips all over the East Coast when his children were young. The family will be present on Friday January 24th from 3-7PM at the (Blasdell/Lackawanna Chapel) JOHN J. KACZOR FUNERAL HOME, INC. 3450 South Park Ave. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday January 25th at 9:30AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 4263 St. Francis Dr., Hamburg 14075 (please assemble at the church).
