Robert Terry (Bob) Rork, 81, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2020 in Georgetown, Texas. His celebration of life will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas followed by a family graveside service in Dallas, both at a future date. Please see ramseyfuneral.com for updates. Bob was born in Levelland, Texas on November 13, 1939, the son of the late Hallie (Terry) and Robert Louis Rork. He grew up in a number of West Texas oil field towns and eventually San Angelo where he graduated from Central High School in 1958. He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves during college. After graduating from Southwestern University in 1962, Bob started his banking career in Dallas. Bob met the love of his life, Linda Brunken, at Highland Park United Methodist Church where they were then married on September 21, 1963. They raised their three children, Jon, Sharon, and Patrick in Dallas and San Antonio. A servant of Jesus Christ and a Methodist of unfailing faith, Bob served throughout his adult life on Methodist boards, committee's, and organizations. These included serving in board leadership roles for the Methodist Healthcare Ministries, Methodist Healthcare System, Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, Southwestern University, Texas Methodist Foundation, the Board of Trustees of the United Way, the American Red Cross, the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, KLRN and KLRN Endowment Fund, the United Way of Dallas, Texas Research League, Texas Association of Business, Communities in Schools-Dallas, and the Downtown Education Center In recognition of his service, Bob was honored in 2016 with The Texas Methodist Foundation Medallion of Merit, the organization's highest honor. Bob's distinguished 32-year career started with Republic Bank in Dallas in 1962 rising through the ranks to hold numerous positions, including President and Chief Executive Officer of its San Antonio market in 1981, Regional Chair in 1984, Chief Executive Officer of its Austin market in 1987 and eventually retiring from the former NationsBank-Texas. Bob enjoyed serving as a member of the Consumer Bankers Association and was awarded in 1983 the 20th Century Award. In 1994, Bob retired as Consumer Banking Executive - Texas and an Executive Vice President for NationsBank. That same year, he joined Alamo Title as President and Chief Operating Officer serving in that capacity until 1998. Bob served as a director of Broadway National Bank and Broadway Bancshares Inc. from 1998 to 2015. A lifelong learner Bob pursued numerous hobbies from training bird dogs, to expanding the nearly lost Phillips bloodline of Texas Longhorn cattle to art collecting, clockmaking, and songwriting. He enjoyed a lifetime of hunting and fishing with his family and best friends. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda; brother, Louis Rork (Kay); sons Jon Dickson (Molly) and Patrick Rork (Jill); daughter, Sharon Schwab (Joey); and was beloved "Big Pop" to eight grandchildren. Throughout his life Bob lived in service to other's and he was admired for his kindness and generosity by all that knew him.
