Robert Cunningham Richards, Sr. arrived at his heavenly home on August 17, 2021. He was born in Montgomery, AL on January 18, 1942, to the Reverend Doctor John Edwards and Catherine Cunningham Richards. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Kaylee Grace Buckner.
Bob also proudly served his country as a captain in the Army Corp of Engineers during the Vietnam War where his primary function was oversight of mobile Bailey bridge construction.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jenny Riddle Richards (married in 1966), children, Robert Cunningham Richards, Jr. (Kimberly) of Clover, SC, Amity Richards Buckner (Michael) of Clemson, SC, and grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Buckner, John Daniel Buckner, and Caroline Catherine Richards. He is also survived by his two brothers.
His family will celebrate a life well lived with a graveside service at 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2021, at Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 20 Meeting Ln., Liberty Hill, SC 29074 with the Rev. Marcus VanVlake officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Friends wishing to celebrate Bob's life should be mindful that Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church cemetery is a historic site and its terrain may be challenging for guests with limited mobility. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Biblical Studies Released Time, P.O. Box 858, Clover, SC 29710, or Bethel Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 2445 Hwy. 557, Clover, SC 29710.
