MOOERS, NY – Robert E. Rabideau, 77, of North Port, FL formerly of Mooers, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the PAM Health Specialty Hospital of Sarasota, Florida with his loving family holding his hands and by his side each step of the way through eternity.
He was born February 19, 1945, in Mooers Forks, the son of Beatrice (Garrand) and Eugene Rabideau. Robert is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Audrey (Tourville) Rabideau. Bobby married Audrey on July 31, 1965 in St. Edmund’s Church in Ellenburg. They raised four children, Todd, Tammy, Patricia, and Christina, in Mooers.
Todd and Tracy Rabideau reside in Ellenburg Depot, NY and have three grown children, Kayla, Darbi, and Emma. Tammy Rabideau and John Turner reside in Waterville, ME and have two teenagers, Leila and Alexander. Patricia and Christopher Winslow reside in South Glens Falls, NY and have one child, Luke. Christina and William Hampton reside in Champlain, NY and have four grown children, Jennifer, Ryan, Caleb, and Cody and four grandchildren.
Bob was a deeply devoted and adoring husband, father, papa, son, uncle, nephew, friend, and neighbor. He loved his wife and four children more than life itself. He tended lovingly to Audrey always. He was THE BEST dad in the multiverse and endlessly did whatever he could for each one of his kids and their families. He is number one hero to his four kids. He thoroughly loved and enjoyed being papa to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they were of his most precious joys in the world. Bob was a joy. He was well known and beloved for his generous spirit, his desire to bring peace, comfort, and kindness to all. He limitlessly shared his many extraordinary talents, gifts, and love. He was a jack of all trades and possessed exceptional mechanical abilities. He had a most extraordinarily amazing problem-solving mind. He was profoundly talented with his hands. The bright beautiful flowers on his front porch in Mooers delighted many for decades. His green thumbs reaped a many of fresh vegetables. His girls were well known to be perched in the garden picking fresh peas and eating them as fast they could. His son would rather eat more vegetables than dessert. Tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, zucchinis, lettuce, arugula, raspberries. You name it, he would try to grow it and then share it. He was a phenomenal woodworker with many in the family having multiple prized pieces. He made furniture, golf clubs, and food. Anyone who knew him experienced the joy of love and talent delivered through food. Bob was an absolutely masterful chef. He had a way of taking notice of what might bring a person joy and took great pleasure in trying to meet them there with time, food, activities, or gifts.
Bob was a strong athlete throughout his school years and on into adulthood. He played basketball, baseball, golf, and bowled for many years. He loved doing the best he could at whatever he tried to do but was also happiest when those around him were supported to do their best. Bob was a hard worker his entire life. He worked on the farm as a young boy and his first job out in the world was with Dragoon’s Farm Equipment in Mooers. He worked in several area businesses in various capacities and retired from James C. Smith & Son after having worked there for about fifteen years. Bob brought and received so much from the wonderful people he was blessed to work with through the years; he remembered people fondly.
Bob had an exuberant zest for life. He had a penchant for bright colors and playful hats. As he loved colors and flowers, the family invites splashes of color to the celebration of life services.
Left to cherish the memory of Bob and to celebrate his life are his loving wife; his adoring children and their spouses; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Ronnie Munnik of Plattsburgh, NY, Gloria and Tony Brown of Zephyr Hills, FL, Dianne and Larry Wolff of Mooers, NY; one sister-in-law and husband Pat and Jim Neverett of Port Charlotte, FL; two brother-in-laws and wives, Jim and Susan Tourville of Ellenburg Center, NY, Allen and Lori Tourville of Chateaugay, NY, and one sister-in-law and partner Connie Tourville and Ed Koss of Chateaugay, NY; beloved grandchildren and spouses/significant others, Kayla Rabideau, Darbi Rabideau and Alexis Sanders, Emma Rabideau, Leila Turner, Alexander Turner, Luke Winslow, Jennifer and George McChesney, Ryan and Danielle Hampton, Caleb and Heather Hampton, Cody Hampton and Jenna Hayden; great-grandchildren Sequoia McChesney, James and Landry Hampton, and William Hampton; many endeared nieces, nephews, and other family members.
