Robert (Bob) Clarence Owens, 86, The Villages, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2020.
He was born November 6, 1934, to the late Robert G. Owens and Ellen L. (Dingerson) Owens. He graduated from Staunton High School. In 1954, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country until 1958. While serving, in 1955, he married Merlyne Best of Livingston, Illinois. After completing his MBA at Southern Illinois University, he began a successful career with McDonnell Douglas Aeronautics. He retired as Director of Fiscal Management after completing over 25 years of dedication. He continued his career with Lockheed Martin Corporation until 1999. He pursued his love of golf by maintaining an active lifestyle in The Villages, Fl.
Throughout his life, he was actively involved in his community and with his children. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Titusville along with the Masonic Lodge. He served on the YMCA Board of Directors, the Theatrical Group Board of Directors, the Parents Advisory Committee at Astronaut High School, and coached or officiated in Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, and various swimming/diving teams.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Merlyne (Best) Owens, his brother Charles P. Owens, and son-in-law Keith Smith.
He will be greatly missed by his children Bobbie Jo Moore (Robert), Gregory A. Owens, Kirk R. Owens (Kim), Tracy L. Moran (Doug), Shelley A. Smith, his eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
