Robert Nels Nichols, "Crazy Bob", 90 years old, of Boyne City passed away February 10, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 2, 1930 in Detroit to Edna & Rudolph Nichols and grew up in Boyne City. Bob was preceded in death by his young daughter Roxanne, February 21, 1969 & his wife Ruth, December 2, 2017.
On July 1, 1951, he married Ruth N. Sloop of East Jordan. Married 66 years, together they raised 7 children in Mt. Morris, Michigan: Robin (Jim) Berry, Rose (Ken) Rau, Bob (Ruth) Nichols, Rick (Trini) Nichols, Roger (Sue) Nichols, Russ (Lisa) Nichols. They have 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Dolly (Ken) Anderson, brother Carl Nichols and brother-in-law Richard Sloop, with many nieces and nephews.
He had a generous heart and loved giving things to people (coffee cups, hats, knives and ink pens). His favorite past times were fishing, hunting, yard sales and poker. He retired from Buick, Flint after 38 1/2 years and returned to Boyne City.
Bob's life will be remembered and celebrated with a memorial gathering on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at 652 E. Main Street, (Rose's house).
