Dr. Robert Paul Ledford, Sr. of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and Summerville, SC, passed away peacefully, surrounded in love by his family on November 8, 2022. He was 75 years old.
Bob was born March 28, 1947, to Paul and Emily Ledford of Chesnee, SC. Bob was a graduate of Chesnee High School and Appalachian State University, where he received his bachelor's and master's degrees in education. He was awarded a doctorate in education from NOVA University.
Bob was a life-long advocate of education and learning, had a passion for farming, and loved to travel. He was dedicated in service to the children and families of Spartanburg School District 2 for over 40 years. Bob was a remarkable educational leader and mentor to countless students and peers. Bob also served his community as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America and Chesnee United Methodist Church.
Bob is survived by his wife Ann Ledford of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Summerville, SC, sons Chris Ledford (Christy) of Augusta, GA and Robbie Ledford of Charleston, SC, step-daughter Kelly Wilson (Ben) of Myrtle Beach, SC, step-son Ray Wilson (Alicia) of Summerville, SC, his brother Ron Ledford (Faye) of Woodruff, SC. He was a proud Papa of Caely, Abby, Hally, Ward, Adam, Ava, Julia, and Allie. He is also survived by his longtime friend Dennis Haltiwanger of Chesnee, SC.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Parks Funeral Home of Summerville, SC, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund of Trinity United Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
