Robert George Kowalski (Bob) AKA Flying Kowalski, passed away on July 1, 2020. Born July 10, 1937 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Helen Kowalski, (nee Glowniak). Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor, 3 daughters Debbie (Chuck) Hagel, Kathleen (Ernie) Mitropoulos, Susanne (Tom) Bernick and two Granddaughters Carly and Jackie Hagel. He is preceded in death by a son Jeffery, his parents and stepmother Louise (nee Fauckler) Kowalski. Bob attended Our Lady of Victory school and St. Gregory High School in Chicago. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served 2 years overseas and 3 years in the Reserves. He worked as a Lithographer in Chicago for 45 years. Bob raised his family in Des Plaines, IL where he was active in St. Stephens Church as head CCD coordinator, the Men's Club, a Eucharistic Minister and performed in some of the musicals. He was a longtime member and onetime Exalted Ruler of the Des Plaines Elks Club. In 2001, Bob and Elly moved to Naples, FL where Bob worked at Cedar Hammock Golf Club and was involved in St. Peter's Church. Bob had a talent for art, loved gardening, collecting stamps and matchbooks, playing cards and visiting friends. A memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2020 beginning at 9 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 5130 Rattlesnake Hammock Rd, Naples, FL.
