Robert (Bob) Kother passed away peacefully at Charlotte Novant Hospital Hospice. He was born in New Jersey and is preceded by his parents, a brother John, and sisters Ann West and Evelyn Curry.
Bob graduated from Davis and Elkins College where he had an athletic scholarship. He was elected to the school's academic honorary society and was a founding member of a fraternity which preceded its affiliation with the national, Sigma Phi Epsilon. He was an officer of both fraternities.
Following college graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After infantry training, OCS, and transportation school, he served as an officer in New Orleans and with the 373rd major group in Labrador, Greenland and new-found land for the "Pine Tree" Operation (Dew Line).
Later, Bob was affiliated with major companies in management for areas of information technology and consulting. He also owned retail businesses and was a real estate broker before retiring.
For more than 20 years he was a New Jersey state certified high school sports official for baseball and football.
Bob is survived by his wife Janice of 60 years, a sister Helen Keefer, a son Scott, daughter and son-in-law Alison and William Treadway, grandchildren; Zachary and wife Brittany, and granddaughter Jillian and husband Klayton Henson and four great-grandsons - Weston, Blaise, Raylin, and Zeplin.
A military service will be held at internment in the VA cemetery in Salisbury, North Carolina
