Robert Alvin Kelley , 89 Sep 11, 1930 - Apr 10, 2020 Robert "Bob" Alvin Kelley, 89, of Williamsport, Md. passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born September 11, 1930, in Clear Spring, Md., he was the son of the late Henry Alvin and Marie C. (Burns) Kelley.
Bob was a 1948 graduate of Clear Spring High School.
After graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952, serving in the Korean War.
Bob was employed by the Division of Corrections in Hagerstown for 27 years, retiring in 1980. After retiring, he worked for Corderman's Hardware and Westinghouse Electric Supply in Hagerstown, Md.
He was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Clear Spring; a lifetime member of the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222 of Clear Spring, and a member of the Western Maryland Sportsman Club.
Bob enjoyed traveling, bird watching, boating, camping, yard work, and watching auto races. He loved spending time with his family and family gatherings. Bob was a loving and caring husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather.
He is survived by his son, Colin L. Kelley, and wife, Debra C., of Williamsport; a granddaughter, Mistie D. Kelley and fiancee, David Taylor; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Charlie.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Marie (Shives) Kelley, who passed away on April 14, 2019. They were married on May 12, 1951 and enjoyed 68 years together. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Wilber G. Kelley.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no public viewing or visitation. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date for family and friends. Private burial will be held with the family at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
