ROBERT JOHNSTON
Robert (Bob) Johnston, 74, passed away on February 28th, comforted by his wife, Lisa, and a close friend of over 50 years, at Ascension Sacred Heart in Panama City, FL.
He was born in Rolla, MO to Henry and LaRayne Johnston. Bob graduated from Morris High School, in Morris, IL in 1964 and from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL in 1969. Bob was Director of Risk Management for Keebler Company in Elmhurst, IL for over 30 years until his retirement in 2001.
After college, he resided in Naperville, IL until 2014 when he moved to Apalachicola, FL to enjoy life on the water. Bob was a passionate sailor who, for decades, spent every available opportunity during the summer on his boat sailing Lake Michigan. When not sailing, he was an avid follower of Formula One and Indy car racing, and a huge lifelong fan of Chicago Bears and Cubs teams.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jim Johnston.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Lisa Card Johnston; two children, Lauren (John) Weitz of Bartlett, IL; and Forrest (Viktorija) Johnston of Denver, CO; grandfather of Elizabeth Weitz, Henry Weitz, and Katherine Weitz; nieces and nephews, Derek (Heather) Johnston, Karl Johnston, Olivia Johnston, Joey Johnston, Marcy Card McCarty, Nathan Card, Bob Card, and Brandon Card; aunts and uncles, Sister Margery Theiss, Patricia Hodiak, Leonard Theiss and Jim Theiss; many friends, including Dennis Fantl and Charlie Vanerka.
Memorial arrangements are pending. His ashes will be returned to the shimmering waters of Lake Michigan on a bright, gorgeous day this summer.
